Louvre Museum, Paris

Louvre Museum, Paris

The Louvre Museum is one of the most important museums of the world by a large number of works of art that has, and the largest in Paris and the third in the world. It is impossible to visit all in one day. Located in district 1 in Cour Napoleon near the Musée d’Orsay.

His collection is impressive, you can not find the large number of pieces, sculptures and paintings have, since many of the rooms have closed because of staff shortages. Also try to restore I could see many sculptures.

All these collections are divided into several rooms, we are including Oriental antiques, Egyptian antiques, antiquities Greek, Etruscan and Roman, Islamic art, sculptures (in this room is a large collection of medieval sculptures, Renaissance and modern), the other rooms are divided between art objects, paintings and graphics (the latter can be seen on request).

The Louvre houses several masterpieces of universal art, which have achieved iconic status and are instantly recognizable anywhere in the world. Among them is the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci, one of the most famous portraits in the world, within the sculpture is the Venus de Milo and Winged Victory of Samothrace.

If you arrive by public transport to the Louvre is the best option, as you indicated below. But if you come in your own car I remind you that the Louvre has an underground parking. The entrance is on Avenue du General Lemonnier. This park is open from 7:00 h to 23:00 h.

Txemi, my travels, 2011

my travels 2011

In this article I will join my colleagues looking at the year behind us to remember some of the trips we have done. My situation is somewhat special because the work allows me to move much so I had the opportunity to “take lots of pictures.”

As occasional slip’m used to skiing in the Pyrenees, so when some friends asked me to do it in Austria in January I did not think twice. My first time and quite an experience. I have yet in my mouth the taste of delicious apple strudel (apple pie) with vanilla cream.

In February I was sent to Wales to replace a colleague while on vacation, something I saw as an excellent opportunity to visit a renewed capital as Cardiff and happened to stop by one of their castles.

After this stay in Welsh land I was informed that my new project would take me to Rotterdam Europoort. However before going there I had to stop by the office in Vienna to read documentation. Three days I goes a long way. From the Imperial Palace to the Cathedral of St. Stephen a city worth visiting, especially in spring and summer when the gardens of their palaces look blooming. In March I had no such luck.

In late March, I moved to Holland, a town south of Rotterdam called Hellevoetsluis. Except for the time that I was lying on the Schiphol airport on my trip to Wales this was the first time he stepped on the land of tulips. Just an idea I was going through your head, “an entire country to discover.”

Holland is not very big so I started from June to look beyond their borders, Belgium, Germany and even France are just a stone’s throw away. Continue reading
