The Fair of St. Orso in Aosta

In the Middle Ages, the Fair was held in the Town of Aosta, in the area surrounding the Collegiate named Sant’Orso. Legendary tales say that it all began right in front of the church where the saint, who lived before the ninth century, used to distribute clothes to the poor and Sabot, typical wooden shoes still lodged in the Fair.
